Basic Human Values and Attitudes Towards a Universal Basic Income in Europe

Abstract This study contributes to the emerging literature on public opinion a universal basic income (UBI) not only by investigating role of human values in influencing support for UBI but also examining moderating welfare state development association between and support. Using European Social Survey (ESS) Round 8 2016, which has an item asking whether 21-item measure that is based Schwartz theory values, results show individual universalism self-transcendence value positively significantly associated with UBI, while other value, benevolence, negative relationship that; two self-enhancement power achievement, are linked UBI. Additionally, advanced states, people who more inclined towards likely UBI; contrast, underdeveloped this apparent.
